The College of Teacher Education, Kudamaloor, came into being in 1992. The college offers a Bachelor of Education degree with two years of teaching training in five optional subjects viz, Malayalam, Mathematics, Physical Science, Social Science and Natural Science. The college has a multipurpose hall with seating capacity of 200 students and a seminar hall. In addition to this, a resourceful library and reading room, ICT lab, separate laboratories for Science, Psychology, Mathematics and Social Science, activity room, play ground, parking space etc.

HISTORY

Kudamaloor is a small town located at a distance of about 4 km away from Kottayam town, which is one of the main centres of literature and because of its literary location, it is known as ‘Aksharanagari’ or the land of letters.

Kudamaloor, is located on the banks of Meenachil River, which is known for its wonderful rural ambiance. Presently under Aymanam panchayath, it was once the headquarters of the Chembakassery kings and had mansion house and many traditional Nalukettu Houses. The descendants of the royal family now reside at the Valiyamadom Nalukettu.

Kudamaloor is a place where many writers and artists have been nurtured up. Kudamaloor Karunakaran Nair is one among them, a renowned kathakali artist and some other masters of kerala art forms like Sopanasangeetham, Kalmezhuthu, mudiyattom and the Martial arts form of Kalaripattu were also from kudamaloor.  Kudamaloor is also known as the birthplace of St. Alphonsa, the first Indian to be canonized as a saint. Her ancestral house Muttathupadathu in Kudamaloor is now a pilgrim spot. Kudamaloor is a place which has a rich social, art and cultural synergy. It was the necessity of the people to have a pedagogical training centre of the kind to mold the future generation. On those grounds the establishment of this wonder of knowledge CTE, KUDAMALOOR happened.
